Vintage 12K Gold Filled Art Deco Choker

This gorgeous, vintage estate piece features 1/20 12k gold-filled round and layered slinky links joined by a spring ring clasp that could also double as a charm holder. Necklace measures 16.5 inches and weighs in at 50.4g.

This is a classic Art Deco piece that looks lovely with a charm in the front or as a choker with the spring ring fastened in the back. (Locket sold separately).

"Gold filled" means there is a solid layer of gold (12k, 14k, 18k or 24k) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as brass. The minimum layer of gold must equal at least 1/20th of the total weight of the piece in order for it to be designated 'gold filled.' 

Gold-filled is a beautiful and more economical alternative to solid gold, which is not affordable for everybody. Gold-filled jewelry has 100x more gold than gold-plated, and because that layer is so much thicker, it means gold-filled jewelry lasts longer and stands up to wear and tear better.
