Antique Figaro Watch Chain Necklace

This gorgeous, rosey-toned, 12k gold-filled necklace celebrates the marriage of two heavy, vintage pocket watch chains with alternating textured and smooth curb and figaro links. The piece fastens with the original 12k gold-filled swivel dog clasp in the front, from which the classic T-bar hangs as a pendant.

This is a unique piece of wearable history. Note - there are some minor signs of wear throughout the piece, as is to be expected with vintage gold-filled pocket watch chains. I personally feel those tones add to the character of the necklace, winking at all of its previous lives.

"Gold filled" means there is a solid layer of gold (12k, 14k, 18k or 24k) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as brass. The minimum layer of gold must equal at least 1/20th of the total weight of the piece in order for it to be designated 'gold filled.' 

Gold-filled is a beautiful and more economical alternative to solid gold, which is not affordable for everybody. Gold-filled jewelry has 100x more gold than gold-plated, and because that layer is so much thicker, it means gold-filled jewelry lasts longer and stands up to wear and tear better.
